OLOU's second canoe-o took place on McNeely Lake on Saturday, August 19th. Mike Moser
was the meet director. The map was not the standard O map but an outline map of the lake,
which added something to the challenge particularly for the land segments. The event started
at 9AM. The temperature wasn't too bad for August and there was a little breeze on the lake.
As the last finisher was pulling in to the landing ramp, a nice little rain storm dropped by for
a visit and the competitors were loading their canoes onto their vehicles. Twenty three people signed up for courses, some going on two. On the Hard course, Larry Datillo, a member of the E-Town canoe club, took first in 67 minutes.
He was using a small solo canoe and a double paddle. In second place was the team of Mike Bowen
and Louie Smith with a time of 75:48. Annie Darst and Lloyd Vest followed up with a time of 102:00. The Medium course resulted in a tie for first between Larry Datillo and George and Sam McAlesse
with a time of 34:25. Third place in the Medium went to the Tarters family.
