Orienteers;
The third race of the OLOU Tuesday Evening Sprints was conducted last night. Despite the threatening weather, we had a pretty decent turn out -37 participants including several newcomers.
First place was taken by Dan Mattingly, next back was Doiug Keefe closely followed by Jeff Hamilton, who was closely pressured by his daughter Mary, the first of the ladies. Novice orienteer Eric Beyerle won the junior men's division, his second victory in that class.
Several groups of juniors competed and showed considerable promise.
Next week's race will start at Hogan's Fountain. I believe that Apollo High School from Owensboro will be bring their state championship team up from Owensboro to compete. Arnie Franklin is the meet director of next week's event.
In the Sprint Series, Mary Hamilton took over first place in the Junior Women from Helen Haag. Doug Keefe's 2nd place finish yesterday kept him on top of the men's list. Carson Tophy has a one point lead for second over Ken Kling, who jumped exchanged places with Jim Carter. In the Junior Men, Eric Beyerle took over sole ownership of first place. Shelly Pennington has still faced no opposition in the Senior Women's division.
