Championship Sprint, 25 July 09
Saturday
morning turned out to be perfect for an orienteering sprint race. The temp
was in the 70s and the sun was shining. Most of the runners took their own
sweet time showing up but eventually 20 competitors turned up for the final
sprint race. Koos Hagg, overcoming a bad race at Creason Park, dominate
the field, finishing the 2.4km race in 10:54. Second place finisher,
Robert Boll, was 4 minutes back. Mary Hamilton won the ladies
division in 17:00
There
was one problem on the course. After the first three or four runners went
out, the 4th control turned up missing. Just the electronic punch
($135.00), not the stand or flag. We adjusted the split times to remove
that control from the results.
